Hungarian Falls

Yesterday marked three weeks on the road, and unfortunately I was pretty sad most of the day. Tracy left in the morning, it rained almost all day, and my friends at home were having fun at Dickmann’s without me! It was great to see Tracy and have someone else to explore with, and I am thankful for the help with writing some blog posts, photographing the sights (and me), and having someone around to help make some decisions. Most of the time I enjoy traveling by myself, getting to do whatever I want whenever I want, but it can also get tiring making every decision all the time. Fortunately the skies cleared up last night and I did get to enjoy another great sunset:
Hungarian Falls
Today was back to almost normal, after laundry ($20.75 this time, yikes) and church I went to see the Hungarian Falls since they were recommended by our bartender the other night, and less than 20 minutes outside of Houghton. When I got to the trailhead, it was almost like it was snowing from all the (I think) poplar seeds that were falling:
The Hungarian Falls were another nice set of waterfalls with a pretty easy hike to see them, although it is steep up to start and down to end. The lowest falls were difficult to see and almost impossible to photograph, but the middle falls were really nice and my favorite of the three:
The upper falls seemed pretty nice too, although the viewing angles were not as good:
AllTrails recommended this as an out and back, but a little past the upper most falls the creek is shallow enough to cross, and there is a trail down the other side to get different views of the middle and upper falls. Might have been a way to see the lower falls too, but it was basically rock climbing to get down or up, and I wasn’t willing to try that.
Wrapping Michigan
Tonight is my last night in Michigan. It has been an awesome three weeks, and I feel like I could use another three to see/do all the recommendations I’ve received from people I’ve met on the way. Fortunately I’m also really excited about what’s to come!
